Upcoming Events

Another school year is upon us and it's time to start thinking about the upcoming events that the Office of Global Programs have scheduled. See below for information about upcoming events in the 2019-2020 academic year.

International Coffee Hour - The Office of Global Programs hosts International Coffee Hour every Friday during the semester from 11:00 am to noon in the Office of Global Programs 1st Floor Conference Room. It's open to all Alcorn students, staff, and faculty. Enjoy freshly brewed coffee or tea with tasty treats while meeting with friends, old and new, domestic and international, to learn about and discuss other countries, the state of the world, and important current events. Chinese Foreign Language Institute Hour - The Office of Global Programs is offering Mandarin Chinese language classes taught by Chinese Fulbright Foreign Language Assistant. The class is open to Alcorn students, faculty, and staff. If you wish to get academic credit for the course, please register for Global Programs 101 (GP101 - 40628 - OL1) for 3 hours of credit. There will be a cost for registering for this class. If you do not wish to get credit, there is no charge for the course. See flyer below. Application for the Spring will be posted in about a month. Check back then for more details about the Chinese Language Institute Spring class times and registration information.

United Nations Lecture Series Presentation - The Office of Global Programs, in conjunction with the Humpty Dumpty Institute, is presenting another in the UN Lecture Series on Wednesday, October 23 at 1:00 pm in the Medgar Evers Auditorium in the JD Boyd Library. The speaker for this event will be Rudolph Michael Ten-Pow, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Guyana to the United Nations and the topic of his talk will be "GUYANA: History, Economic Development, and Involvement at the United Nations." LINKS, Inc. Organization Presentations to International Students - The LINKS, Inc. organization is doing 2 more presentations this semester to the international students. All presentations will be held in the Medgar Evers Auditorium in the JD Boyd Library. The dates and times of those presentations will be:

  • Tuesday, November 5, 2019, 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm
  • Monday, December 2, 2019, 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm
